A Canadian academic of Egyptian and Hegazy decent. He is a head of the Maqasid Institute, a research network in many countries, and a Professor of the Imam Shatby Chairmanship for Studies on the Maqasid of Sharia at the University of Salam in South Africa, a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, the Fiqh Council of North America, and a former professor at Carleton University in Canada, Qatar College of Islamic Studies and the University of Brunei Darussalam.
